Short characterization of professional activities and achievements
1. Complex point defect structure in -MnS has been evaluated.
2. The momentum balance of mixture in which diffusion is considered causes the new term to appear in the Navier-Stokes equation. Apart from terms responsible for pressure, viscosity and external forces there is the diffusional one. This postulated new term has been derived with the use of Liouville theorem. The analysis whether the internal energy of mixture depends on diffusion resulted in conclusion is that diffusional flux does not change the internal energy of mixture. The specific initial conditions for a pure diffusion has been defined and has been elucidated that it is the diffusion, described by the well-known equation of diffusion.
3. A nonhomogeneous boundary value problem for interdiffusion in a solid multicomponent one dimensional mixture showing constant concentration has been analyzed. The separation of diffusional and translation flows has been applied for the general case of diffusional transport in r-component compound. The equations of local mass conservation, the Darken's flux formula, the postulate of constant molar volume of the mixture and the initial and boundary conditions form a self-consistent interdiffusion problem (the quantitative dynamical model). This problem has been analyzed in open as well as closed system and when components diffusivities vary with composition. The variational form of the interdiffusion problem and the criterion of parabolicity were obtained. The development of the "uphill diffusion" concentration profile ("diffusional structures") in the ternary alloy was proved and demonstrated.

The key moments in professional life: 1) everything has began with meeting (in 1971) the long time boss and friend prof. Stan Mrowec; 2) the exciting experiments with extraordinary help of J. Dbek (in 1982-84); 3) the fundamental discussion (on diffusion) with prof. P. Kofstad (Oslo); 4) the critical and stimulating revue of the first "steps" in theory of transport by prof. A. Fuliski and finally 5) start of collaboration with mathematicians from Jagiellonian University.
